Linda Horne

Linda Elliott Horne, 77, of Salem, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born to the late Thelma Thomas Elliott and Herman R. Elliott. Linda was employed at General Electric in Salem for thirty-three years. Following her retirement she went back to work as the secretary for Shiloh Baptist Church in Salem. Her faith was placed in Jesus Christ, and she was a devoted member of CommUNITY Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eddie Horne. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Horne; brother, Norris Elliot; sister, Anita Bryant; special grandchildren, D.J. Gearhart, and Jordan Gearhart; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Rev. Phillip Ayers and Rev. Adrian E. Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the funeral home.
