Lillian Dixon Burson, 80, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 in Abingdon, VA after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zack Burson, her mother, Virginia Dixon; father, Charlie Dixon; brother, George Dixon, and a sister, Frances Dixon. She was a graduate of the Virginia Baptist School of Nursing and was employed by the Salem VA Medical Center for over 38 years. During her retirement years, Lillian served as a proud and dedicated Longaberger Basket Consultant and a well respected vendor of the Salem VA Farmers Market family. She is survived by a brother, Arvin Dixon and his wife Topsy of Wake Forest, NC; sister, Helen Roark of Abingdon, VA; special nephews, Rick Roark and wife Sabrina of Abingdon, and Gerald Dixon and wife Gwen of Knightdale, NC; two great-nephews, Blake Roark of Abingdon, and Matthew Dixon and wife Mellissa along with great nieces, Maci & Marlee of Knightdale, NC. Also two very special friends whom she loved dearly, Beth Semones and Bill Chauncey, both of Salem, VA. The family sends special thanks and appreciation for your dedicated care of our loved one to Dr. Quinn, the entire staff of Grace Healthcare, Caris Hospice, and Naomi Barrett of Abingdon, VA. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Grace Healthcare of Abingdon, VA. Services will be held at 2PM, Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Abby Chapel of Sherwood Memorial Park.
