Lewis Eugene Wooldridge

Lewis Eugene Wooldridge, of Elliston, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the age of 84. Lewis was born on February 10, 1937, to the late Minnie Sue and John Eugene Wooldridge. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Ora Mae Arnold, Glenna Hogan, and Ray Wooldridge. Lewis worked most of his life at Roanoke Iron and Bridge where he was a welding inspector. However, in his younger years he worked at Blue Ridge Gardens where he found his passion for gardening. There was no tree, bush, or plant he did not know the name of or how to care for it. In addition to his loving wife, Susie, Lewis is survived by his children, Missy Smith and husband, Junior, Sandy Helton, Danny Wooldridge and wife, Donna, and Randy Pruitt; grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Smith, Anna Helton, Julie Vincent, Crystal Hight, Joey Wooldridge, and Dustin Pruitt; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wanda Overstreet, Eddie Wooldridge, and Wayne Wooldridge. He will also be missed by his dear friends, Ed Thurman and wife, Debbie, and Bobby Cobb. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Kindred Hospice for all of their support and caring for Lewis family. A period of visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. with Rev.
