Leslie Wade "Les" Reid

Leslie Wade Les Reid, age 59, of Salem, Va. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019, in Salem. He was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1959, to Elsie Reid and the late William Reid. Les had a love for life; he was always up to do something, and always ready to have fun, known to so many as the jokester. He had over thirty years of service to R&T Painting, Inc.; he loved bluegrass music and playing his stand-up bass. He also enjoyed fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, and his favorite time was time spent with his family. Les was and still is a loving brother, son, and husband; in like fashion on Sunday morning Les was met in heaven by so many family members and friends, and coming from a family of musicians were sure that a pickin session was had when he arrived. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ollie Fore, and Gilmore and June Reid. Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother include; his wife, Bonnie Reid; sister, Becky Showalter; brothers, Dalton Reid and his wife, Jackie, and David Reid; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. with Pastor Tim Gearhart officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the service hour.
