Lawrence Richard Mitchell

Lawrence "Larry" Richard Mitchell, 69, of Salem, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2026. Larry was born July 24,1956 in Astoria-Queens, New York to the late Rose Cunningham Mitchell and Frank Mitchell.

Larry worked for the Fallsburg Central school system in New York for 15 years as a superintendent of grounds and building maintenance. He loved the New York Jets, boating, snowmobiling, and family. He will be dearly missed, especially his wittiness and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Sharon A. Schmidt; brother, Danny Mitchell and wife, Mary; sister and brother-in-law Ellen Lewis and husband, John; nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial service will be held in late July to celebrate his life.
