Larry Joseph 'Jake' Raborn

Larry (Jake) Raborn, 70, of Salem and formerly of Charlotte, NC, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Agnes Raborn; brother, Jerry Raborn; and sister-in-law, Jo Nan Raborn. Larry was a proud veteran, having served his country in the Army. An avid baseball fan, he loved watching the Red Sox play. He loved books and music, particularly old blue grass and gospel. Larry loved people, especially children. He had a caring heart and will be deeply missed. Family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Mary Jane Raborn; daughters, Kimberly Raborn Barnes, Amy Bott, Carol Cannon, and Beth Wood Raborn; son, Mike Raborn; sister, Hazel Corn; brother, Tony Raborn; special grandson, Austin; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Roger Slate and Marsha Murray. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6 until 8 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service to honor Larrys life will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 3 pm at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with Chris Raborn officiating.
