Kenneth James Lawson, 61, of Elliston, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 8:38 a.m. surrounded by his loving family. Kenny was born on October 5, 1955 to Kathleen and Herbert Lawson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Lawson; and step-mother, Ollie Lawson. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Patricia St. Clair Lawson; daughter, Lindsay Katerine Lawson and boyfriend, Paul Wilson; father, Herbert Lawson; brother, Jeffery Allen Lawson and wife, Crystal; He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Dennis Edwards and wife, Melissa, and daughter, Laney, as well as Chris, Kasey, Abriana, and Tyler Lawson; and his grand-dog, Marla. Kenny was an employee of Motion Industries in Roanoke for 30 years. He was a long-time member of Goodwin Memorial United Church where he served as Lay Leader and several other positions within the church. His love for God, family, and his church family were of the utmost importance in his life. His only child, Lindsay (also known as Pee-Wee), will always be remembered as his shining beacon of love. Lindsay was the most extraordinary achievement of Kennys life, for the past 32 years he spent his life as a hero, role model, best friend, and Dad for his Pee-Wee. Kenny also had a special interest in baseball, especially his Baltimore Orioles, as well as history and target practice. If God ever created a perfect example of a loving husband and father, it would be Kenny. The family would like to extend a special thanks to members of Shawsville Rescue Squad who were called to Kennys aid on more than one occasion and were very caring and professional. They would also like to thank the nurses and doctors in the Critical Care Unit of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for not only their professionalism, but their warmth and caring demeanor. Last, but least, the family would like to extend a thank you to their neighbors, Steve and Regina Vassar as well as David and Cindy Sisson for their kindness and loving prayers for Kenny during his illness. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles DeHart officiating. The interment will be private.
