Kelley Shawn Clark (O'Dell)

Kelley Shawn Clark (O’Dell), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 67.

Kelley was born in Belle, West Virginia, but spent most of her life in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a 1977 graduate of Cave Spring High School. Family was always at the center of her life, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the people she loved. She had a genuine gift for making others feel welcomed, cared for, and important, and throughout every chapter of her life, her warmth, compassion, and ability to connect with people were among her greatest qualities.

Kelley was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 46 years, David Clark. She always made sure David was cared for and supported, and she had a special way of bringing out the very best in him, both personally and professionally. Their marriage was built upon love, partnership, loyalty, and a deep commitment to one another.

Kelley was also a deeply loving mother to Reese and Megan. She worked hard to give her children a wonderful childhood filled with happy memories while instilling in them strong values, compassion for others, and a strong work ethic. She took great pride in watching them grow and always wanted them to have every opportunity to become the best versions of themselves. Kelley was extremely proud of Reese, his accomplishments, and the family he built, and she took great joy in seeing the man, husband, and father he became.

Following the heartbreaking loss of her daughter Megan at a young age, Kelley took on an even greater role in the life of her grandson, Nathan. Without hesitation, she embraced the responsibility of helping raise another child, becoming not only his grandmother but also a mother figure as she helped guide him into adulthood. Kelley and Nathan shared an extraordinarily special bond, one that will remain in his heart forever.

Kelley was an amazing grandmother to Tyler, Devin, and Chase as well. She was one of their biggest cheerleaders, always encouraging them, celebrating their accomplishments, and taking tremendous pride in the young men they became. She rarely missed an opportunity to brag about her grandchildren, and anyone who spent time with Kelley knew just how proud she was of each of them. Her love, encouragement, and influence will continue to be a lasting part of their lives.

Kelley began her professional career in banking and finance before leaving to join her mother in the clothing retail business. When Kelley opened the second location in Roanoke, Mimi’s Plus Ltd., she found a natural outlet for her love of fashion and her talent for working with people. The high-end specialty clothing store allowed her sense of style, outgoing personality, and gift for sales to shine. She took great pride in helping her customers find clothing that made them look and feel their best and developed many lasting relationships along the way.

She later joined Grand Home Furnishings, where she discovered another way to combine her creativity with her love of helping others. Kelley especially enjoyed assisting customers with interior design and helping them create homes and spaces they could truly enjoy. Her ability to listen, understand what people wanted, and make the experience enjoyable helped make her one of the company’s top sales associates.

Kelley eventually joined John M. Oakey’ & Son in Salem, where she completed her working career in a role that held special meaning for her. She genuinely loved people and found great purpose in helping families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Kelley understood that during times of grief, even the smallest gesture—a reassuring smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or a comforting voice—could make a difference. She approached every family with patience, dignity, kindness, and sincere compassion. The relationships she formed with the families she served and with her coworkers meant a great deal to her, and she took tremendous pride in being able to offer comfort and support when it was needed most.

Kelley was preceded in death by her daughter, Megan Clark; her parents, Carolyn and Max O’Dell; her parents-in-law, Phyllis and William Clark; and her brother-in-law, Bill McCray.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, David Clark; her son, Reese Clark and his wife, Leslie; and her beloved grandsons, Nathan Clark, Tyler Beckner and his wife, Jensen, Devin Clark, and Chase Clark.

Kelley is also survived by her brothers, Brian O’Dell and his wife, Katie; Darren O’Dell and his wife, Georgeanna; and Nathan O’Dell and his wife, Kim. She leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Connie and her husband, Scott; Becky Gearheart and her husband, Tim; Lolly McCray; and her brother-in-law, Tony Clark and his wife, Becky.

Kelley will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and past and current coworkers, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength, hard work, compassion, and devotion to family. Her warm smile, caring nature, and genuine interest in the lives of others will be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Above all, Kelley will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends, and her memory will be cherished always.

Kelley’s family will welcome friends for a period of visitation on Tuesday, September 8,, 2026, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home.

Funeral services honoring Kelley’s life will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the funeral homes chapel. Pastor Tim Gearheart will officiate.

Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, in Salem.
