Keith C. Jeffreys, 81 of Salem, VA passed away Friday, April 29, 2011. He was born May 19, 1929 in Watertown, NY, son of the late George A. and Isabel Bearss Jeffreys. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ross East Jeffreys; step-daughter, Mary Beth Obenchain; and two brothers, Harold and Donald Jeffreys. Mr. Jeffreys was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He attended VPI for two years prior to entering the military and then graduated from Syracuse University. He was a former school teacher in New York and California. He returned to Salem to work in the family business, George A. Jeffreys and Co. where he retired as Plant Operations Manager after many years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a beloved long time member of the church choir. He enjoyed singing with the Salem Singers Choir after retirement. He was an avid amateur photographer. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Van Valkenburg and husband, Raymond; brother, Robert H. Jeffreys and wife, Patricia; step-grandson, Clinton Obenchain; and a many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, May 5, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Salem with Rev. Stephen Bray and Rev. Bobby Pickle officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to thank Salem Health and Rehabilation, Unit 4 for their wonderful and loving care and also thank Lewis Gale ICU for their loving care. John M.
