Katie Lynn Charlton

Katie Lynn Charlton, 45, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017. Katie was fun loving, energetic, and full of life. She was a beloved little sister, and loved her family very much. Preceding her in death was her grandmother, Allie F. Kesler; parents, Robert and Phyllis Charlton; and godparents, Lucille and David Rogers. Her surviving family includes her brothers, Steve Charlton and wife, Darlene, and Jonathan Charlton and special friend, Paul Glenn; sisters, Lisa Glass and husband, Bruce, Mary Shelor and husband, Gene, and Karen Cahoon and husband, Jeff; special aunt and uncle, Loretta and Wiley Light; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to the staff on 2 South and the many friends at Friendship Health & Rehab for their loving care of Katie for the past 22 years. A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in the funeral homes chapel with Rev. Tim McKenzie officiating.
