Kathy Lynn Wagner, 51, of Salem, passed away peacefully following a long illness on Monday, July 8, 2013. She was born on July 13, 1961 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont and had been an area resident for over 30 years. She graduated from the Lyndon Institute in Lyndonville, Vermont and was employed by Ryder Truck Rental for many years. Kathys legacy will be her dedication and devotion to her two sons, Brandon and Bradley. As a single mother, Kathy was very involved in her boys academic and athletic activities throughout their school years. Their coaches can recall her enthusiasm and cheering from the sidelines, even though it often embarrassed them. She enjoyed camping and outdoor activities and was an avid NASCAR fan, never missing a race and cheering loudly for her favorite driver, Mark Martin. Kathy also enjoyed music, bluegrass, country & western, old rock and roll, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Shania Twain.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gertrude and Raymond Wagner, and Shirley and Fredrick Wilson.
She is survived by her loving sons, Brandon Scott Wagner, 27, of Salem, employed as a finish manager at Heartwood Custom Cabinets for 9 years, and Bradley Kurt Wagner, 25, of Salem, and his fiance, Chelsea. He has been employed as a service technician at Magic City Ford for 7 years. She is also survived by her father, George Wagner, Sr. and his wife, Gabriella, of West Burke, VT; her mother, Diane Ball and her husband, Neal, of Littleton, NH; three sisters, Rebecca W. Ulrey, her husband, Michael, and daughter, Madison Rebecca Ulrey, of Roanoke, little sister, Sissy Ball of Wheelock, VT, and Susan Villeneuve of West Burke; two brothers, Brian Ball, his wife, Danielle, and daughters, Jordan and Lexa of West Burke, and George Wagner, Jr. wife, Tammy, and daughters, Hannah and Lillian, also of West Burke; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of long time friends. Kathy was blessed to have the love and support of two very special aunts, Joene Burroughs of Christiansburg and Tanya Wilson of Salem.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Pastor Fred Hodges will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Inurnment at Hillside Cemetery in West Burke, VT will be held on August 10, 2013.
