Kathy A. Chapman

Kathy Ann Chapman, 61, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. A native and lifelong Salem resident, she was the daughter of the late Richard R. Kanode, Sr. and Maudie Hayes Kanode. A member of Ridgewood Baptist Church, she was employed for many years as a nursing assistant at Snyders Nursing Home and Lewis-Gale Hospital prior to retiring. Kathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading the Bible and cats. She is survived by a son, Michael G. Greenway, Jr. of Salem; a sister, Nancy Combs of Utah; and two brothers, Timothy Kanode of Salem and Richard R. Kanode, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA. The family would also like to acknowledge her loving cat, Midnight, her brother Tims cat Sylvester, and her sister Nancys cats Fella and Miss Abby Jane as loving and loyal family members. Funeral services will be held at 3PM, Friday, June 8, 2012 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Roy E. Kanode will officiate.
