Kathryn Davis Hedge

Kathryn Davis Hedge, 72, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 18, 2010. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church in Salem and enjoyed serving as Sunday School Superintendent. Professionally, she worked at Allstate for nearly 50 years. Kathryn was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother who spent her life serving others. Preceding her in death was her mother, Edna L. Davis; brother-in-law, Joe Sizer; and niece, Bonnie Gordon. Her surviving family includes her husband of 56 years, Robert L. Hedge, Sr.; sons, Robert L. Hedge, Jr. and William Eugene Hedge; brother, William OBrien and wife, Nancy; sister, Phyllis Sizer; grandchildren, Specialist William Robert Hedge (US Army) and wife, April, Christopher Aaron Hedge, and Cynthia Danielle Hedge; and nieces, Crystal O'Brien, Brenda Barnett, Vickie Kibler, and Brenda Dillon. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Salem. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Dan Netting will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Kathryns name may be made to the First Christian Church at 712 Front Avenue in Salem, Virginia 24153.
