Kathleen Parker Boggs

Kathleen Parker Boggs, 100, of Atlanta, GA and formerly of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. She was a nurturing and loving mother, a caring friend, a devoted wife, and she will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her sweet spirit. She was always quick to smile, she loved to laugh, and she was the worlds best hugger. She never met a stranger, and daily demonstrated her love of God through her kindness to others and her countless unselfish acts. She instilled in her children an appreciation of music, art, books, and travel, and has left them with a lifetime of treasured memories and special moments. A native of Danville, GA, she studied at Middle Georgia College, served as a substitute teacher in elementary school, and later traveled extensively while working with Lever Brothers before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Benton Boone Boggs, Jr., who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Benton Boone Boggs III; daughters, Sara Kate Boggs Bemiller and Martha Bruce Boggs; sons-in-law, Darrel Bemiller and Lewis (Chip) Dondrea; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Zalon Boggs. She is also survived by a sister, Sara Emily Parker Carden of Danville, GA; and numerous nephews and nieces. The family extends their gratitude to the staffs of Emeritus Dunwoody, Hospice Atlanta Center, and Delencia Healthcare. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Dr. N.L. Bishop officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either the Roanoke Valley SPCA at 1340 Baldwin Avenue, NE in Roanoke, VA 24012 or to the Mary Ellen Falzone Diabetes Center at 2100 West Central Avenue in Toledo, OH 43606.
