June Elizabeth Coleman

June Elizabeth Coleman, 85, of Salem, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015. She was born on February 26, 1929 in Bluefield, WV, daughter of the late George R. Martin and Ethel M. Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. (Gene) Coleman; two brothers; and one sister. June had previously been employed with JCPenny for 16 years, and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her surviving family includes her children, Michael E. Coleman and wife, Christa, and Ruth Ann Stuart and husband, Mark; grandchildren, J. Andrew Stuart and wife, Katie, Catherine L. Stuart, and Elizabeth C. Stuart; great-grandchildren, Joseph D. Stuart and Madelyn G. Stuart; and other family members. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will then be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel and immediately followed by interment at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Hilton Jeffreys will officiate. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to either the Salem Rescue Squad at 201 South Broad Street in Salem, Virginia 24153 or to the Ronald McDonald House at 2224 South Jefferson Street in Roanoke, Virginia 24014.
