Julia Lynn Spence

Julia Lynn Spence, 52 of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012. She was born on July 12, 1959 to the late Joe Steve Cornwell and Laura C. Johnson Cornwell. Mrs. Spence will be remembered mostly of her love of music and birds, mainly hummingbirds as she enjoyed watching them feed from the numerous feeders she made available to them. She was one to have never met a stranger and was often lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be missed mostly by her family as she will always be remembered as a very loving wife and mother. Mrs. Spence is survived by her husband of 25 years, Virgil Spence; son, Ryan Spence, and his girlfriend, Crystal Marsh "Lovee"; two brothers, Michael Conley & wife Tracie, and Steve Cornwell & wife Penny, and two sisters, Michelle Johnson and Sharon Gillispie. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home and Crematory, Salem. A memorial service to cherish her memory will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
