Julia 'Louise' Manzie

Louise Manzie, 85, of Salem, Va. and formerly of Newport News, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Louise served many patients as a nurse for over 60 years beginning with the National Institute of Health, later at the Salem VA Medical Center where she retired, and then most recently at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest M., Sr. and Mary E. Manzie; and brothers, Ernest M. Manzie, Jr. and William W. Manzie. Her surviving family includes siblings, Mary E. Manzie, Rose A. Kimmons, Robert R. Manzie, Carol J. Fournier, and Dorothy E. Lytle; and many nieces and nephews. A period of visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. J.R. Shelor officiating. A service of interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Louises name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place in Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
