Judith Catharine Burton

Judith Catharine Smith Burton of Salem, Virginia, joined her beloved husband and son in heaven on Friday, November 17, 2023. Judy was a graduate of Graham High School (Bluefield, VA) and the Lewis Gale School of Nursing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Nana. Judy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved helping others. Judy was predeceased by her husband of over 52 years, Robert Lee Burton; son, Andrew Stephen Burton, as well as, her parents, Maurice Edward and Pauline Farmer Smith and her oldest brother, Maurice Warner Smith. Left to cherish and remember Judy are her three grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Rebecca Erin, and Maigen Grace Burton; daughter-in-law, Melanie Lynne Burton; sisters, Barbara Smith Nash and Sandra Smith Kidd (Garland); brother, Frankie G. Smith (Frances), and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Salem, Va., with Rev. Alan Combs and Rev. Michael Houff officiating. Interment immediately followed in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations in Judy's honor be made to Mrs. Dorsey's Clothes Closet, 825 S. Colorado St., Salem, Va. 24153. Service Details.
