Juanita Goins Clifton

Juanita G. Clifton, 95, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2017. She was born in Stokes County, NC, a daughter of the late Andrew and Annie Frye Goins and had been a Salem area resident for 68 years. Juanita was employed as a seamstress with Maid Bess Garment Company for many years before retirement, after which she was employed at Kroger Lakeside for over 15 years when she retired for the final time. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, canning and sewing. She was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Davis and husband Chris, and Jeanette Dooley and husband Donnie. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Ricky (Sondra), Robbie, Ray and Ronnie (Alisha) Dooley, Tommy (Amanda) Grisso; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Junior (Janie) Goins, and a sister, Shelby Millsaps. Funeral services will be held at 3PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev Rick Elmore will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, the Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley or the Alzheimers Association.
