Joyce Ann Shell

Joyce Ann McClung Shell, 88, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born February 13, 1938, in Botetourt County, Va., to the late Squire E. and Marie Ercell Wilhelm McClung, she is also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Lee Reynolds.

Joyce, who preferred to be called "Nannie Shell", was most recently a member of Fellowship Community Church in Salem but attended Salem Wesleyan Church (now Abundant Life Church) for many years. She loved working with children's ministry and Vacation Bible School and sharing the love of Jesus with little ones. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Chincoteague Island and Carnival Cruising with her special friend and loving companion, Willie. Joyce was a sweet spirit, a loving mother, a doting grandmother and a good friend to many; she will be greatly missed.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her best friend and loving companion of 45 years, Willie Wilhelm; children, Tim Reynolds, Susan Holmgren and Kenny Reynolds and his wife, Lisa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ethan Callison officiating. Interment immediately following in Trinity Cemetery, Troutville.
