Joyce Elaine Jackie Harrison Crotts Underwood-Lee, born in Roanoke, Virginia on July 20, 1931, of Salem, absented her body, joined the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 23, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Thomas Sanford Crotts, Sr. and mother Hazel Juanita Harrison Crotts; her first husband, William Marvin Underwood; one sister, Barbara Ann Crotts-Underwood; and her grandparents, Warner William Harrison and Georgia Julia Ann Davis Harrison-Baskerville. She is survived by her husband, Fred Carlton Lee of Salem, VA; six daughters and one son- three daughters and one son by birth and three daughters through marriage: Brenda Marie Underwood (Don) Horn of Wirtz, VA, Sandra Sue Underwood (Jim) Watson of Montvale, VA, Deborah Anne Underwood Crotts of Roanoke, VA, and Steven Wesley (Cornelia) Underwood of Salem, VA; through marriage: Kathryn Mozel Lee of Orlando, FL, Joyce Ann Lee (Dwayne) Lewis of Salem, VA, and Betty Jo Lee (Jamie) Watts of Huntington, WV; grandchildren: Matthew Lee (Lisa) Fink, Marvin Gilbert (Lashell) Fink, Tammy Sue Pugh (Billy) Bandy, Larry Tyler (Rachael) Pugh, Megan Elaine Crotts (Jeff) Dix, Merenda Ellen Crotts, Melissa Gail Underwood (Jason) Gillenwater, William Braxton Brad Underwood; through marriage: Michael Dwayne (Heather) Lewis, Jr., London Lee (Elizabeth Izzy) Lewis, Kathryn Ann Katie Belville, and Christopher Andrew Andy (Stephanie) Horn; great-grandchildren in parents generational order: Nathaniel Malcolm Fink, Jessica Marella Fink (Lee) Ransome, Chelsie Marie Fink, Samantha Sue Bandy, Samuel Joseph Tyler Pugh, Steven Edward Loius Pugh, Derek Matthew Wayne Pugh, Dustin Allen Lee Pugh, Cameron Scott Carper, Catlin Renee Carper, and Patrick Lee Carper; through marriage: Gwendolyn Paige Lewis, Michael Dwayne Lewis, III, Adaline Faith Lewis, Lura Bethany Lewis, Jason Anthony Shanteau, Kaleigh Horn, and Mandy Odessa Horn; great-great-grandchildren:Kaydence LeElla Ransome, Christopher Levi Fink, Joseph Tyler Pugh, Ellasandra Grace Bandy, and Maxton William Bandy; one sister: Peggy Gaye Crotts (Bob) Thurman; one brother: Thomas Sanford (Lisa) Crotts, Jr.; plus many nieces and nephews. Joyces last request was that all of her family turn to God and serve Him so they will follow her to Heaven some day. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A Funeral Service to honor Joyces life will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. David Rorer. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, Salem Rescue Squad-Salem, VA or Eternal Hope Baptist Church, 424 W. 4th Street, Salem, VA 24153. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA. I want to be remembered first for my love and devotion to my Lord and Savior, then for my love for all of my family. A life of trials has made me what I am, I am grateful for every one of them. Do not grieve for me, I have gone to a better place.
