Joyce Wright Howell

Joyce Wright Howell, 81, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was born on March 16, 1942, in Roanoke, Va., to the late Cecil and Helen Wright. Joyce was also preceded in death by her husband, Ron Howell; and brothers, Stuart and Daniel Wright. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Ron, and they were married 54 years. They were both teachers in the Franklin County School System. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Howell, Jr. (Donna Owle); daughter, Debra Hartman (David); grandchildren, Robert Hoffert (Jenifer), Donald Hoffert (Dreama Spencer), and Christopher Howell (Dessarea Fitzgerald); great-grandchildren, James, Jace, Gabe, Scarlett, Ilyanna, and Violet; son-in-law, Bob Hoffert; brother-in-law, Tom Howell; sisters-in-law, Sue Heidorn, Ann Taylor, and Sandy Wright; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family thanks Medi Home Health & Hospice and their wonderful staff. A private service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
