Joyce Roop Combs

Joyce Roop Combs, 74, of Elliston, Va., joined her husband, Junior in Heaven on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. She was born on February 18, 1948, in Christiansburg, Va., daughter of the late Frazier E. and Ruth S. Roop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Adkins and grandson, Timothy Bryan Woolwine. Joyce owned and operated Joyces Beauty Shop in Elliston for 40 plus years. It was where she met many wonderful people and created great friendships. You could always find Joyce with a smile on her face or hear her infectious laughter. Joyce was happy, fun-loving, upbeat, and loved life. Her precious girls were the apple of her eye. They too have her infectious smile and laughter. Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Family remaining to cherish in her memory include her daughters, Victoria Combs Statzer and Deborah Combs Burdette (Randy); grandchildren, Angela Dawn Woolwine, Eric Burdette, and Ashley Burdette; and a great-grandchild, Ryleigh Woolwine. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Joyces life will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
