Joshua Kent Young

Joshua Kent Young, 32, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He graduated from Salem High School. He loved to fish, Virginia Tech football, and his kids. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, George (Daddy Mack) Kanode and Rudy K. Young; and step-grandfather, Ezra Trumbull. His surviving family includes his mother, Vickie Young and fianc, Jay Ayersman; father, Randy Young and wife, Teresa; sister, Paige Young and friend, David; children, Brayden and Vayda Young and their mother, Brandi; step-sisters, Ashley Neighbors and husband, Jason, and Lindsey Brown and husband, Richie; grandmothers, Christine Kanode Trumbull and Patricia D. Young; niece and nephew, Kaylin (Yiddy-Skiddy) Young and Carter Black; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, also in the chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, also in Salem. The Rev. Hilton Jeffreys and the Rev. Jesse Bass will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to a trust benefiting Joshs children.
