Joseph William Nagy, affectionately known as Pappy Joe, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 94.
He was a decorated US Army WWII veteran having earned the EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal, and Victory Medal. Mr. Nagy was also a retiree of General Electric.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Irene Nagy; and several brothers and sisters.
His surviving family includes his son, Joey Nagy; daughter, Margaret Sprouse and husband, Danny; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many extended family members; and numerous special church friends.
Special thanks is extended to the Salem VA Medical Center doctors, nurses, and hospice workers for their loving and considerate care.
Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Dale Ridge Church of Christ in Roanoke. A funeral service will then begin at 11 a.m. with Brent Cassell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
