John Thomas Shockley

John Thomas Shockley, 60, of Salem, made his transition on Monday, May 16, 2016. Preceding him in death was his father, Lonnie Eugene (Tick) Shockley. His surviving family includes his mother, Mary Bandy; siblings, Rev. Nancy Shockley, Marsha Gregory, Donna McCormick, and Tracy Shockley; Uncle and Aunt, William (Bunk) and Betty Shockley; nieces and nephew, Whitney Evans, Honey Shockley, and Howard Elliott Gregory; great-nieces, Olivia and Skylar Pruett; and beloved pet, Pei-Pei. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Bonnie Culkin for all the care she gave to John. A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Pastor Rebecca Arthur officiating. A period of visitation will follow until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
