John Jack Harold Rubom, age 71 of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at his residence while surrounded by those he loved. He was born on February 12, 1939 to the late August and Helen Krueger Rubom in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Rubom was recently retired as a truck driver, as he loved traveling, and was the owner of the Virginia Knife Traders. He was a veteran of Vietnam as he proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps, and was an active member of the Marine Corps League of Lynchburg, VA. He is survived by his son, Scott Rubom & wife Vickie; daughter, Amber Pendleton & husband Jared; a step-daughter, Spring Abney & husband Mike; Siblings, Jerry Rubom & wife Karen, Chuck Rubom and Marilyn Briest and husband Paul; four grandchildren, Chris, Brandy, Cameron and Easton; one great grandchild, Cortel. A memorial service will be conducted at 6pm Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the John M. Oakey & Son Salem Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
