John Henry Ehrlichman, 92, of Salem, passed peacefully in his home while being surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 10, 2017. He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and later lived in Hialeah, Fla. and Hobe Sound, Fla. He proudly served during WWII as a US Marine, and later volunteered with the Hobe Sound Fire Department. Affectionately known as The Candyman, he worked as a salesman with the Hershey Chocolate Corporation. He was married for over 50 years to Ginny Bryan, and very much loved his entire family. All who knew him recognized his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and amazing storytelling. Preceding him in death were his parents, Theodore Ehrlichman and Kathryn Ehrlichman Williams; wife, Virginia Bryan Ehrlichman; brother, Vern Ehrlichman; and granddaughter, Sarah Beth. His surviving family includes his daughters, Bonnie Ehrlichman Pollock and husband, Dan, and Terri Ehrlichman Palmer and husband, Warren; grandchildren, Jordan E. Pollock and wife, Abby, Kendall Pollock, Heather Davis and husband, Brett, Rebecca Crawley, and Elizabeth Crawley and husband, David Baysden; and great-grandchildren, Megan Davis, Hayley Davis, Olwyn Pollock, and Conner Henry Baysden. The family extends special thanks to Medi Home Hospice and his loving caregivers for all of the support and compassion. A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will immediately follow at East Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to either the Angels of Assisi Biscuit Fund at 415 Campbell Ave, SW in Roanoke, Va. 24016 or to the Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758517 in Topeka, Kan. 66675.
