John Wesley Butterworth, Sr., 64, of Roanoke, was taken home on Monday, August 11, 2014.
A native and lifelong area resident, he was the son of the late Roy Wesley Butterworth, Sr. and Rachel Poff Butterworth. He was employed as a paving supervisor with L.H. Sawyer Paving Company for over 40 years and was truly the hands that paved Roanoke. John, being hard headed and right 99% of the time, taught his children lots of lessons and common sense. He enjoyed Hunting Fishing and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Butterworth, Jr.
He is survived by his former wife of 30 years, Janena Kay Butterworth; a son, Travis Butterworth; two daughters, Tracy Butterworth-Huffman and Breanna Butterworth; three grandchildren, Aryana Cox, Alizabeth Bailey and Emma Huffman; two brothers, including William Sherman Butterworth; seven sisters, many nieces and nephews, and his many loyal friends and neighbors at the Frontier Apartment Complex.
A memorial service will be held at 12PM, Friday, August 15, 2014 at Sherwood Memorial Park Abby. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Freedoms Angels, Ted Nugent USA 4008 W. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49202.
