Joanne S. Caves

Joanne S. Caves, 78, of Salem, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011. She was born in Salem, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Sisk and had been an area resident all of her life. She retired from Tultex Mills following over thirty years of service, was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed music. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Billy Caves; her daughter, Nita Carl and her husband David; a sister, Betty Jean Sisk; three grandchildren, Melinda Hathaway and her husband Ben, Melissa Carl and Stephanie Carl, as well as two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Zachary Hathaway. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Ivey Adams will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Rd.
