Joan Crawford Thomas

Joan Crawford Thomas, 85, of Salem, passed away Monday, August 29, 2017. She was born in Salem, the daughter of the late Harry and Willa McDaniel Hodges and was a Salem area resident all of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Musselman. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charley Thomas; four daughters, Donna Greenway and husband David, Debra Burks and husband Samuel, Becky McClanahan, and Cydney Elliott and wife Dawn. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Joan Ratcliff. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Chaplain Dave Vanderpool will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12 PM, at the funeral home.
