Jill Woodward Hurt

Jill W. Hurt, 82, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born in Kent, England, and had been a Salem area resident since 1954. She retired from NS Railroad following many years of service and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Jills greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was an avid walker, and enjoyed knitting and reading. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Robert Hurt; three sons, Gary Hurt and wife Dale, Wayne Hurt and wife Robin, and Darren Hurt. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nicole Ellinwood, Melissa Francisco, Zachary Hurt, Lucas Hurt and Vivienne Barnhart, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Abbey Chapel of Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Bryan Buckles will officiate. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM, also in the Abbey.
