Jessie Lee Hall (Red), 81, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013. He was a proud veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War, and later retired from Medeco. In his spare time, he loved gardening, especially planting and caring for his tulips. Preceding him in death was an infant son, Timothy Lee Hall. His surviving family includes his wife of 58 years, Minnie Brumfield Hall; children, Ambrose Pannell and wife, Connie, and Nancy Hall; sister-in-law, Virginia Eblen; grandsons, Tracy Pannell and Mark Pannell and wife, Jennifer; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, especially Edean Rakes and husband, H.C.; grandbird, Sonny; and many other special family members and friends. The family would like to thank Gentiva and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their wonderful care. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with military funeral honors. Pastor T.G. Ayers will officiate.
