Jessie James Clark, 83, of Floyd, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was born in Pulaski County, a son of the late Jessie Everett and Lillian Bratton Clark and had been an area resident all of his life. He retired as a diesel mechanic with Overnite Trucking following many years of service. Jessie was a born tinkerer, always working on cars or other projects and raced both stock cars and dragsters in his younger years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Dean Clark, and by his sister, Ernestine Tiny Pattison. He is survived by two sons, Russell Clark and wife Teresa, and Allen Clark and wife Judy. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Nathan Clark and Sydney Clark Simmons and her husband Jeffery; a brother, Harold Clark and wife Rita; longtime caregiver, Ina Headrick; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Rev. Roy Kanode will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
