Jerry Markham

Jerry Markham, age 66, passed at his home on Tuesday evening, July 26, 2011, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Jerry was born in Roanoke and lived in Botetourt County, Lynchburg, and Salem, Virginia. He worked for over 30 years with B&W and recently for Accellent. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a published author and avid civil war reenactor as a member and captain of 11th VA Company G. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Markham and Travis Boozer; his grandsons, Oliver and Henry Markham; his brothers, Sidney G. and Fred Markham; his stepchildren, Suzanne and Chris Ferree; and many others who love him. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Roanoke with Pastor David Skole officiating. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road #106 in Roanoke, VA 24018 or to the Civil War Preservation Trust at 1156 15th Street, NW, Suite 900 in Washington, D.C. 20005.
