Jerry Markham, age 66, passed at his home on Tuesday evening, July 26, 2011, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Jerry was born in Roanoke and lived in Botetourt County, Lynchburg, and Salem, Virginia. He worked for over 30 years with B&W and recently for Accellent. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a published author and avid civil war reenactor as a member and captain of 11th VA Company G. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Markham and Travis Boozer; his grandsons, Oliver and Henry Markham; his brothers, Sidney G. and Fred Markham; his stepchildren, Suzanne and Chris Ferree; and many others who love him. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Roanoke with Pastor David Skole officiating. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road #106 in Roanoke, VA 24018 or to the Civil War Preservation Trust at 1156 15th Street, NW, Suite 900 in Washington, D.C. 20005. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Rosenoff and his staff as well as Dr. Marie Malinchak and the nurses on the 8th, 9th, and 10th floors at Carilion RMH.
