Jerry Wayne Hodge, 72, of Christiansburg, and formerly Salem, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was born in Roanoke County, a son of the late Charles and Anna ONeil Hodge. Following the death of his parents, he was raised by his uncle and aunt, the late Buddy and Betsy Clem Hodge. Jerry was employed as an over the road trucker for all of his life prior to retiring. He loved country music, fishing, a roaring bonfire and good down home cookin. In addition to his parents and uncle and aunt, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Hodge; three brothers, Billy Hodge, Rodney Lee Hodge and Johnny Johnston, and a sister, Judy Dixon. He is survived by four sisters, Louise Dillion and husband Donald, Patsy Martin and husband Leonard, Carol Umberger and husband Martie, and Angie Barrett and husband Willie; two brothers, Andy Hodge and wife Maria, and Kenny Hodge; a sister, Peggy Hartman; an aunt, Agnes Statzer; his special friend and companion, Kitty Bryant; his dog, Mooses; and several special nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, February 25, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. In keeping with Jerrys wishes, no other services will be held.
