Jerry Douglas Francisco, 81, of Salem, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013. He was born in Salem, a son of the late Charles William and Lula Blanche Francisco. He was a life long area resident, and after proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Jerry began his work as a self-employed stone mason He had a passion for playing blue grass music and was gifted the ability to play any kind of musical instrument. At family gatherings you could always find Jerry picking his banjo. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted Francisco, Clayton Francisco, and Charles W. Francisco Jr., and three sisters, Buelah Campbell, Blanche Edwards, and Eva Meador. Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Gloria Maxine Francisco, their son, Douglas Alan Francisco and his wife Cindy, two sisters, Eula Simmons, and Lottie Reynolds, four grandchildren, Amy Myers and her husband Terry, Samantha Miller, Tracy Shearer, and Larry Haines, nine great grandchildren, Amber, Heather, Ian, Glory, Evan, Lisa, Jake, Amanda, and Lilly. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
