Jerry McKinley Bugg, 81, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on Tuesday, March 5, 1940, to the late McKinley and Esther Bugg, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Norma StClair Bugg, and two sisters, Doris Newcomb and Betty Vames.
Jerry loved old cars and traveling to the Amish country. He greatly enjoyed being outside and feeding the wildlife that visited his back yard, especially the deer. Jerry was employed as an electrician for Roanoke City Schools and retired after 25 years of service. He was a loving husband and father and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren. He was absolutely smitten with his first great grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Joy Myers (Marty Kessinger), and Roxanne (Charlie) Wilson; grandchildren, Jordan (Hunter) Cox and Isaac Wilson; as well as great-grandson, Andrew Cox.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park, with Pastor Chuck Ward officiating.
