Jeffrey Alan Smith, 48, of Roanoke, was called to Heaven to ride a Suzuki on the streets of gold on Monday, October 15, 2012. He fought hard for 5 months after being diagnosed with cancer.
He was born in Cook County, IL, a son of Steve W. Smith and Freda Bolen Smith and had also resided in Shady Spring, WVA prior to locating to the Roanoke area over 3 years ago. He was employed for 25 years at Beckley Auto Mall and most recently was employed at Corning, Inc. Jeff enjoyed riding motorcycles and the beach. But above all, he loved his wife, she was his soulmate. He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Hatfield.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Becky Ashworth Smith; three brothers, Jason and David Smith, and Rick Hatfield; a sister, Kissy Smith; step-daughter, Heather Hardy, her husband Chris and their son, Noah; nieces and nephews, Kylie, Courtney, Kindal and Katie Smith, and Keith, Corey and Hayley Hatfield, as well as a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Friday at the funeral home.
