Jeanne Marie Sawtelle

Jeanne Marie Sawtelle, 93, formerly of Salem, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Jeanne was an educator for nearly 50 years, mainly teaching English. She was also a gifted craftswoman in many areas, including as a seamstress, and enjoyed traveling. Her lifelong active church membership was held with The Methodist Church. Surviving is her son, Leonell (Lee) C. Strong III; daughters, Melissa Strong Lucas and husband, CL, and Susan Meredith Strong; special friend, Joe Riggins; and cousin, Bev Knox and husband, Al. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Calvary United Methodist Church at 845 Hemlock Road in Salem with the Rev. Jason Bryant officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior. In lieu of flowers charitable contributions in Jeannes memory may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.
