Jean Hale, 74, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born on October 6, 1937 to the late Charles and Dorothy Newman. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was completely devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Hale; daughter, Rhonda Foster; sister, Janet Melvin; and brother, Robert Newman. Her surviving family includes her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Lynnsey Harris and husband, Mike, and David Foster; her most beautiful and adorable great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy and loved very much, Regan and Grayson Harris; sister, Phyllis Howard; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Roxanne Sobolewski. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Blue Ridge. Rev. Shawn Tanner will officiate. There will be no visitation.
