Janette "Janet" Robertson Wray

Janette "Janet" Robertson Wray, 82, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Edward and Ocie McPeak Robertson and had been an area resident all her life. She was a member of the Jefferson High School Class of 1957 and was employed for 30 years at the Bank of Virginia/Signet. Following her retirement from banking, she was employed for a time with AARP. Janet was one of the "Jackson Girls", a group of friends dating back to elementary school days who maintained longtime relationships and loved each other dearly. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her sister Louise, her dearest Bob, and just about any family member or friend who was ready for adventure. Family holiday gatherings and dinners were made especially special by her warmth and love, and the ability to put together a celebration worthy of a Good Housekeeping cover. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, antiquing and just spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving and constant companion of over 20 years, Bob Moran; daughter, Kathy Wray Chaale and husband John; son Michael Wray and wife Melanie; two sisters, Betty Drew, and Louise Eakin and husband Charles; three grandchildren, Zack Wray and wife Mariah, Chelsea Wray, and Savannah Dyer and her husband Daniel; great-grandson, Michael Noah Wray; three nieces and two nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Fair View Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Nienke officiating.
