Janet Marian Horne "Jennie" Reed

Janet "Jennie" Marian Horne Reed, 85, of Salem, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019. She was born in Salem, a daughter of the late Burrell and Lois Horne, and had been an area resident all of her life. She was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church and a huge Washington Redskins fan. Jennie enjoyed working in her flower garden, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who could not spend enough time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Jack Reed, and a son, Burrell E. "Eddie" Reed. She is survived by two sons, Steve Reed, and Mick Reed and his wife Peggy; granddaughter, Patricia Reed Kinkle and husband Bill;three grandsons, R. Jackson Reed and wife Suzanne, Noel Spencer and Deke Reed; great-grandchildren, Emily Reed, Micah, Isaiah and Ariella Kinkle; two brothers, George W. Horne and Richard Horne, her sister-in-law, Peggy Lucado, and numerous extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev. Bryan Buckles will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
