Jane Ann Hedin

Jane Hedin, 67, of Salem, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 as she finished her long battle with cancer. Throughout her life, she fought to the very end for her family which she cared for so much. She was born on December 15, 1946 in Rockford IL and moved to Virginia in 1988. She devoted her life to helping her family and others succeed. She was small in stature, but had the heart of a giant! Jane was always willing to help anyone in need and loved to make others happy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh Holloway and Mary Jane Holloway of Rockford, IL. Her surviving family includes her loving husband of 49 years, Ron Hedin; son, Jeff Hedin and daughter-in-law, Lisa, of Rockford, IL; son, Scott Hedin of Aurora, CO; daughter, Debi Hedin and future son-in-law, Tim Jones, of Wytheville, VA; 7 grandchildren, Noah, Shane, Jacob, Joey, Felicia, Andrew, and Sarah; sister-in-law, Sharon Lynch; brother-in-law, David Lynch of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nephews and their families. Her brother, Gary Holloway, also resides in Rockford, IL. A special thanks goes out to both the Blue Ridge Oncology Center as well as the Raleigh Court Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will then be conducted on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel by Chaplain Dave Vanderpool. An additional period of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, also in Salem. The Hedin family is being served by John M.
