James Calvin Mowles

James Calvin Mowles, a loving husband, father and grandfather, 84 of Salem, VA passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was preceded in death by his son, James C. Mowles, Jr.; father, James R. Mowles and mother, Maggie Collins Mowles. He is survived by wife of 65 years, Irene Mowles; children, Steven R. Mowles; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and David McMahan; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his loving pet, Little Bit. Mr. Mowles was well known for his involvement in various sports through coaching and officiating. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 6 to 9 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 314 Turner Road, Salem, VA. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11 am Friday, October 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Kevin Segerblom and Rev. Dr. Eric Surat officiating.
