James Donald 'Jim' Mitchell

James Donald (Jim) Mitchell, 76, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2017. James worked for the Roanoke City School Systems for 39 years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Elsie Mitchell; daughter, Denise Hayth and husband, Ricky; step-son, Jimmy Trail; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Lewisgale Medical ICU for their kindness and compassion. A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home.
