James H. Maxey

James (Jimmy) H. Maxey, Jr., 68, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Hoyt. His surviving family includes his wife of 46 years, Barbara Maxey; sons, Chuckie Beckner, Ricky Beckner, and Barry Maxey and wife, Susan; very special granddaughter, Jenna Beckner; great-grandson, Michael Blake Mitchem; special aunt, Marie Ward; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Pam Sartin, James and Polly Beckner, Carol and Larry Strouth, Frances and Randy Elsie, and Brenda Shaver; and nieces and nephew, Kim Traxel, Melissa Fender, Sandy Ayers, and David Shaver. Jimmy will be forever loved and greatly missed. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. The Rev.
