James Clinton Journell

James Clinton Journell, 60, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 following a long illness with diabetes. He worked for the Roanoke County maintenance department for 25 years, and enjoyed camping and fishing in his spare time. Preceding him in death was his father, John H. Journell; and brother, John Mervin Journell. His surviving family includes his wife, Kathy Sisson Journell; children, Derek and Kirsten Journell; stepson, Stephen James and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Hannah Journell and Isabelle James; mother, Frances Collins Huddleston; sister, Wanda J. Conner; nephew, Anthony J. Peery; and many other special family members. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 beginning at 1 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Dave Vanderpool officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
