James Neal Jones

James Neal Jones, 85, of Salem, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014. Neal served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was retired from AT&T Communications after 36 years of service as an Equipment Technician for Long Lines. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Christine Jones; parents, Walter and Della Jones; sister, Janie Jones Hodges Rutherford; and brothers, Ralph, Roy, Ray, Frank, and Grover Jones. His surviving family includes his children, Steven Neal Jones, David Jones and wife, Pam, Daniel Jones and wife, Deonia, Roger Glen Jones, Mary Elizabeth Jones, and Judy Gale Jones; granddaughter, Taylor Jones; step-grandchildren, Greg, Scott, and Stephanie Bowman; and special friends, Betty Scott, Namoni Holt, and Lewis Black. Together, the family sends a special thanks to Bio Medappiga, The Virginia Veterans Care Center, and Care Vantage. A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will then be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park located at 5970 Grassy Hill Rd in Boones Mill. The Rev. Marshall Jackson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Neals name to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 E. 33rd Street in New York, NY 10016. The Jones family is being served by John M.
