James Curtis Delung

James Curtis "Jimmy" DeLung, 92, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Born in Mt. Hope, West Virginia on February 5, 1933, he is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Georgia Jones Dobbins and James W. Dobbins, as well as his sisters, Martha Strawn, Edna Morse, Molly Hite and Elizabeth Bryson.

Jimmy proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Rowe Furniture in 1997 after 38 years of faithful and dedicated service.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 67 years, Marlene Burton DeLung; son, Dwayne DeLung; two grandsons, Zachariah DeLung and wife Jessica and Halen Journell and wife Sarah; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Rayne DeLung; brother, Don Dobbins and wife, Margarette, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 428 S. College Ave., Salem, with Pastor Andrew Baek officiating. A brief time of visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment immediately following in Church Hill Cemetery, Palmer Ave., Salem.

While flowers are welcome, memorial donations to honor Jimmy may also be made to Central United Methodist Church, Salem, Va.
